Kemal Tarba on Streetwear, Gen Z, and adidas in Moscow & Russia
In this podcast, we chat to our peer Kemal about changes and trends in Russia’s streetwear scenes, Gen Z in Russia and how adidas can make sure they’re connecting and tapping into the right spaces across the country. Moscow-based Kemal is a streetwear and youth culture expert, and wearer of many different hats; he is a brand consultant and market researcher, political scientist, event planner, and has been a photographer for GQ Russia, and culture blog editor for Dazed Magazine. With a keen eye for culture and an understanding of where Russia is at when it comes to streetwear, he is someone PSEUDO always enjoys working with [and the feeling is very much mutual]. In this podcast, Kemal talks to us about what’s going on in the scene in Russia, where and how adidas can better connect and how best to be appropriate.
Alice Skinner on Brands & Activism
In this podcast, we chat to London-based Alice about all things activism; why she pushes back on the word ‘activist,’ her experience of working with brands, what brands should do - [and most definitely not do] - and what adidas can do in the realm. Alice Skinner is a London-based illustrator and artist who has worked with charities and organisations such as Bloody Good Period and Amnesty International, as well as a host of big-name brands. She was a pivotal member of the #freeperiods movement in 2017 that led to the UK government allocating £1.5 million to address period poverty, and has also published The Revolution Handbook to encourage young people to get involved in social change. In this podcast, we pick her brain about what it means to be an activist today, and where she thinks brands are either getting it very right, or just very, very wrong.
Rudah Ribiero on Using Our Power to Make a Difference in Mexico City, New York & LA
Rudah was one of our moderator peers for this project, interviewing across Mexico City, New York, and LA. Ex-Nike, we chat to Rudah about what he heard, the ‘hows and the whys’ of using our power to make a difference, and the importance of uplifting and connecting to communities. Rudah is a New York-based brand marketer from Rio de Janeiro who has lived in LA, Portland, Sao Paulo, Paris, and New York. He currently leads GOMA; a creative studio in Brooklyn at the “intersection of brand marketing and artistic productions.” Previously, Rudah spent over a decade managing musical artists, as well as five years leading cultural marketing for Nike in NYC. Rudah has a deep and nuanced understanding of the dynamics of cultural influence, and knows how to forge [and flourish] strong relationships with the right people and the communities who create it. In this podcast, we are lucky enough to pick Rudah’s brain on how we can make a difference and he is interviewed by Simon Pestridge, the ex-Global Vice President of Nike [he was there for 23 years] who we are privileged to say is now an Agency Partner at PSEUDO.
